eAYSO came into being the spring of 2003. It is still undergoing enhancements and we still do not know exactly what it will be when it grows up. We do know it has proven to be a huge leap forward from what NSTC had before with AYSONAT and WinAYSO. But it will never be enhanced to the same extent as WYS. eAYSO must address the issues in a generic fashion that applies to all regions. They are solving 20% of the regional problem for 90% of the regions whereas WYS focuses on solving 90% of the regional problems but only for 20% of the regions.
WYS and AYSO have a working relationship where player registration information is sent electronically and imported into eAYSO. There is no formal mechanism for moving the data in the other direction. The only critical piece of info that needs to move from eAYSO to WYS is the AYSO player ID which is often required for tournament play. WYS works with the respective RCs to get a dump from eAYSO that will allow this piece of information to find it's way home to WYS.
To view eAYSO and WYS as competing offerings is showing a lack of undermstanding for both products. WYS will never be extended to solve the problems that the NSTC deals with on a daily basis. And eAYSO can never be extended to encompass the day to day communication issues between parents, coaches, referees and the regional board. Each has it's place.
